GIS maps for natural protected areas in Kosovo
In 2017, i was assigned to create maps that would provide more details about protected areas in Kosovo. More specifically, we wanted to find out what kind of land types and ecoregion are covered by these protected areas. For the first two maps, i used GIS files for the WWF ecoregions (ecoregions as defined by WWF) and combined this with the map of protected areas in Kosovo in order to "extract" the types of ecoregions covered by these areas. For the following 2 maps, i used Corine Land Cover shapefile from 2012, which gives detailed information about the land types included in protected areas. These maps provide more details that originally available with just natural protected areas maps, and can provide interested parties/decision makers with valuable information.
